Disruptions on Palatine Road

Details of disruptions on Palatine Road.

Significant road resurfacing on key routes into the City, which includes large sections of Palatine Road, will start on Monday 3rd July 2017.

In order to minimise disruption, the works will be undertaken in the following phases.

Phase 1: Lapwing Lane to Barlow Moor Road. Monday 3rd July to Friday 7th July.

There will be a one-way system in operation in a northbound direction (City bound) from Barlow Moor Road to Lapwing Lane. Southbound traffic will be diverted to Wilmslow Road.

The removal of the existing carriageway surface will be undertaken during the day as this is the noisiest operation. The new materials will be laid overnight to keep the length of disruption to a minimum.

There will be occasions when some of the side roads between Barlow Moor Road and Lapwing Lane will be closed to traffic for a short period of time. This is to allow for both movement of plant and machinery and to allow the new road surface to be rolled and cooled. Access will be reinstated as soon is possible and your patience during this time is appreciated. If you require access during these times Traffic Marshalls will be in place to assist you.

Phase 2: Lapwing Lane Junction. Saturday and Sunday 8th/9th July.

Lapwing Lane will be closed to all traffic from 07:00 on Saturday 8th July to 19:00 on Sunday 9th July both sides of Palatine Road. Signed diversions will be in place to assist motorists. Palatine Road will be controlled with two-way temporary signals.

Phase 3: Northenden River Bridge to Barlow Moor Road. Monday 10th July to Friday 14th July.

Two way signals will be in operation from 09:30 to 15:30 and 19:00 to 05:00 each day for the removal of the existing surface and laying of new materials. Restrictions will be lifted during peak hours to relieve traffic congestion.

Phase 4: Barlow Moor Road Junction. Saturday and Sunday 15th/16th July.

Barlow Moor Road will be closed to all traffic from 07:00 on Saturday 15th July to 19:00 on Sunday 11th July both sides of Palatine Road. Signed diversions will be in place to assist motorists. Palatine Road will be controlled with two-way temporary signals.

Phase 5: Northenden River Bridge to Barlow Moor Road. Monday 17th July to Friday 21st July.

Palatine Road will operate under two-way temporary signal control from 09:30 to 15:30 to allow carriageway ironwork, manholes and stop valves etc. to be lifted to final levels.

From 19:00 to 05:00 each evening Palatine Road will be closed to all traffic, however restricted access will be maintained to frontage properties and businesses between Northenden River Bridge and Barlow Moor Road. Please follow instructions from Traffic Marshalls who will be stationed at both Northenden River Bridge and Barlow Moor Road.
