Marie Louise Gardens gets a sundial!

This morning I had the pleasure of unveiling the new sundial at Marie Louise Gardens which has been created with the help of the children of Moor Allerton School.
The sundial marks a successful end to a project initiated by the Friends Group who wanted to create a feature that will symbolise our dependence on the earth we inhabit. The children of Moor Allerton School were invited to assist in the construction of the sundial and were (unsurprisingly) delighted with the final design. Today was the opening ceremony and spirits were very high. We were treated to a few songs chosen and sung by the children. Situated at the centre of the dial is the Analemma – a figure of eight that shows the movement of the earth and its relationship with the sun. The sundial will undoubtedly remain an inspirational focal point for many years to come.
