Leech welcomes Ladybarn Primary School roof funding boost
South Manchester MP John Leech has today welcomed Lib Dem Schools Minister David Laws MP announcement that Ladybarn school in Withington will receive a share of a £370m Government school buildings fund to replace its roof.
Local Lib Dem MP John Leech has consistently lobbied for extra funding to improve local schools. The school will receive a six figure sum but the exact figure is not being publically announced by the DFE in order to give the school maximum negotiating power with local builders.
Liberal Democrat Schools Minister David Laws MP said:
“I am delighted to be announcing that Ladybarn Primary School is getting funding for a new roof, fought for by John Leech and delivered by Liberal Democrats in government.
“John make a very clear case as to why this project should be funded. Liberal Democrats want to carry on investing in our school buildings to give every child the best possible start in life.
John Leech MP said today,
“This is great news for Ladybarn Primary, and much needed. I am delighted that Liberal Democrat ministers listened to our case.”
“It is much harder for teachers to teach and for children to learn when they are stuck in school buildings that aren’t up to scratch.”
