Leech calls on Manchester United to end ban for season ticket holders who don't buy cup tickets

South Manchester MP and Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) patron John Leech has called on Manchester United to end its compulsory ticket  scheme for season ticket holders.

John, who is the Liberal Democrat Sports Spokesperson and a season ticket holder at Manchester City, recently met with MUST, and at their request submitted a parliamentary motion asking the club to replace the current scheme with a voluntary scheme.

John Leech MP said today, “When I met with MUST recently, they raised this as a real issue of concern for their members. I am happy to raise it in parliament on their behalf, and hope we can pressure United into changing their policy.”

John added, “Not everyone can afford to sign up to a season ticket and every cup game, not at over £30 a pop plus travel and parking costs. Not everyone can get an evening off work, especially at 8 days notice like the recent Cambridge game. It is unfair for clubs to discriminate against fans and ban them for a game if they cannot make it.”
