South Manchester MP John Leech will attend Manchester City Council’s Planning Committee today to argue against a planning application for 35 flats on the old Orange Grove pub site in Fallowfield
John thinks that the plans are an overdevelopment of the site and the flats, at 5 storeys tall, are too large. The flats will also create additional parking problems in the area and lead to a loss of green open space.
John said today, “I am turning up in person because the planning officers have got this wrong. These plans are opposed by local residents groups and Withington Civic Society. The flats are too large, will create parking chaos and lead to the loss of green open space.”
John added, “Over 40 people turned up in the rain this morning for the site visit. I hope the Planning Committee take note of the strength of feeling, and the strong planning arguments, against this application and reject it.”
