Sorry Alan but Dave has a valid point. I've given up trying to call the police out, because they don't turn up. I've had some fool shooting an air pistol at people, had a jerk on a quad bike trying to mow me down on my bike (actually aiming at me), rung 999 on the spot and been told they had no officers available. As for lesser things - motor bikes along the mersey, my car being broken into etc, don't even think about calling them. Somebody I know was recently repeatedly rammed by her ex-boyfriend as she drove along Wythenshawe Road. The police were passing and stopped. The boyfriend drove off. The police made no attempt to talk to available witnesses. It took them THREE MONTHS to arrest the driver, who lived quite openly round the corner. They made no effort to take forensic evidence and he was never charged although she was injured and her car written off. The same woman and her 14 year old daughter were assaulted by drunks, and the police never even got as far as examining her for injuries or interviewing the daughter.
Alan, it's systemic in this town. It is not isolated incidents. I have no faith whatsoever in GMP and large numbers of the population don't bother calling them because they know what will happen - nothing. I don't know where the fault lies, but it is probably with the system not the officers. As far as I can see they are rushed off their feet and cannot cope.
And that moron of a Home Secretary is a bloody disgrace. A nasty condescending waste of space.
