Would you notice the police were on strike in Manchester. I had the misfortune of calling them twice when I live on Merseybank. Once when I had my garage broken into and had a bicycle stolen, and the neighbours knew the culprit and were willing to act as witnesses, but the police just gave me a log number for insurance purposes and that was that! Second time, and the time I got genuinely peeved with the level of service was when my 9 month pregnant wife was hit by a joy rider, that wrote of my car! The officer called to the scene was lovely and very sincere, but when I (yes, I, not the police) found the dumped stolen car around the corner from my house, I asked if they would look for finger prints, and they looked at me like I was off another planet! I asked if they would take witness statements, and again, they looked at me like I was daft! Sorry, I have not time for the police. You can argue that it is the governments fault, but some blame has to be left with the police bosses and what they see as priorities, victim support is clearly not one!
