if you're referring to my posting, best thing to do is go into the Catholic Truth Society Bookshop on Brazennose Street in Manchester and brouse the books by Thomas Merton. I'd suggest The Asian Journal of Thomas Merton. Or if it is Taoism which interests you, try Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu. Get one with a good introduction - Wordsworths Classics edition is good ISBN 1-85326-471-7. Or I can lend you them if you wish.

Re voter apathy. It's not the voters who are apathetic, it's the options which are pathetic. If you don't feel your vote will count, if you don't feel the politicians are listening, if you don't trust the politicians to represent your views any way and if you have a press that reduces everything to soundbites, people don't get motivated. They feel disntanced from the political process. But don't confuse that with them not caring. Of course they care. Politicians fail to engage them though.
