"people who aren't even from here, ie the dippy drippy students obsessed with the Iraq War. Most of these voters will be gone by the time of the next election, Iraq will have faded by the time the next crowd of scrounging students comes along and they'll spend polling day drinking themselves into a stupour" You are an idiot. This kind of scapegoating is only going to cover up the real reasons why the labour party lost this seat. This was in no way a sudden swing but the culmination of a gradual decline in the popularity of the Labour Party over the last few years. Remember Labour took many losses in the council elections to the Lib Dems, including places such as Burnage which being the place I was brought up came as a massive surprise to me since traditionally it has been as Labour a place as imaginable. What's more, there are no students to blame there!!! Shocking! I just wish the labour party and their supporters would quit apportioning blame and look at how they can regain the seat next time with a real campaign (not just one leaflet per household) and popular policies (not like invading Iraq and now it seems they won't let go of the idea of ID cards even at £300 a head).
