On the issue of surgeries I remember when Keith was first elected he had one or two a week at various points across the constituency. They were reduced to two a month simply because more people turned up to some than to others. As someone who has worked with Keith's office staff for all of his 18 years in Parliament I can confirm that they would see anyone who came in the door. Appointments became advisable simply because of the sheer number of people wanting to see Keith and the time it was taking to get through them all. Even then someone who just turned to his office would not be turned away. Keith's Office delt with 2-3,000 cases a year - that's almost 36,000 cases over 18 years! Keith was a very hard-working and effective constituency MP, that he didn't brag about it reflects well on him.
