I would hardly call it a "melt-down". However, I think the Lib Dems have not done as well as they could have, (in my area at least) due to not as big a presence as normal, and because they have lost some trust in recent months locally, and perhaps on a national level, not in the limelight as much as they were this time last year.
That said Labour's meltdown (and the figures show they came third nationally overall in votes counted) was due to ongoing problems and coverups nationally, and people are still protesting over Blair being in charge.
What do you think the reasons for Labour's meltdown were? Also, what do you think are the reasons the BNP managed to double the amount of councillors nationally?
