Taking the Oath...

Posted by JLW on Friday May 13, 23:28

John Leech wasn't one of the 470 MPs to take their Oaths yesterday between 2:30pm and 4:03pm, though the oaths are taken in order of seniority. The speaker said "I hope that, by late this afternoon, we will have made sufficient progress to enable all Members to swear in who wish to do so", so I don't really know if that means he could have been sworn in or not - perhaps he was too busy, they ran out of time or he just couldn't be bothered turning up. Suppose it will happen on Monday now.

what a pathetic jibe at a new MP who was sworn in at the earliest opportunity. perhaps we shall start up a Manchester LABOUR Watch website after all few people know anyone who has ever been helped by Labour.

The point of this website is to make sure John Leech's actions are available to view in one central place, and he is accountable for them. It is not aimed at having a go at John, just an account of his actions as our MP - don't worry, if he does something good we'll put it on the site.

I think the "all who wished to" is about the Sinn Fein MPs who won't be taking the oath. The oath is always taken in order of seniority, so the new MPs are last.

Cllr Whitmore, why not start a Labour watch and you will see the good that Labour has done for the constituency of Manchester Withington. This website is intended to hold John Leech accountable for his actions such as the scaremongering and misleading claims that Christie is going to close. Perhaps you should take a close look at the party that you and Mr Leech represent then maybe you would begin to come to terms with the fact that your policies are nothing more than hot air and Mr Leech won not through a positive, real issue based campaign, but through misleading claims and lies! All the best! You'll need it at the next election!

there really is not much to watch of Labour in Withington any more with just 5 councillors to 16 Liberal Democrat councillors, it really is delightful to see Labour hacks like Alan only able to abuse political opponents. We can't wait for the next election to come soon enough, when I was first elected we had a group of just three Liberals in Manchester now we are 38 so keep on moaning and we will keep winning the seats. I'm off now I can see this site is just a Labour whiniging one to just have a go at John, shall not be contributing again, keep on whinging while we keep winning.

Cllr Keith Whitmore - Just to reiterate the point made above: the site really isn't aimed at moaning about John Leech. If he makes any good decisions, they will also be reported here. I'm sure that even you would agree that your local MP must be accountable for their actions, and it is upto constituents to make sure that they are.

I'm not moaning, whinging or abusing anyone Cllr Whitmore. I am merely making my feelings known about the dirty campaign tactics used by your party and it's representatives in the run up to the election. Again, lets talk about Christie, lets talk about voting records! Perhaps you will win more seats on the council, but Labour will take them back. That's not moaning or whinging, that's determination and it's this determination that you and your party are going to have to start worrying about!Regardless of what you may think there are alot of unhappy people in the Manchester Withington constituency and I think that the next four/five years will be very interesting times.

I can't say that I'm sorry Keith Whitmore won't be contributing to the site anymore. Why waste any more space on egotistical optimism!
