Burnage Academy recieves £293,000 cash boost

Local Lib Dem MP John Leech has today welcomed a £293,265 grant to Burnage Academy for Boys for this financial year.

The money has been set aside for schools which have grown - the school has attracted an extra 92 pupils this year.

John lobbied Lib Dem Education minister David Laws in support of the bid from the school.

John Leech MP said today, "I was happy to support the schools bid for extra EFA funding. The school have told us they will spend the additional money on things like speech and language support, additional teachers and teaching assistants, and more support for children with special educational needs."

Liberal Democrat Schools Minister David Laws, who granted Burnage Academy the additional funding, said: "I am delighted to give this additional funding to Burnage Academy following representations from John Leech MP.

"John and the school made an excellent case for why the money is needed.  Additional resources will mean the school is able to properly support the many additional pupils it has successfully attracted this year."
